Edtech company Klassroom reported a steady improvement in its financial performance for the first half of FY27, with net profit increasing 23.8% year-on-year (YoY) to ₹4.8 crore. The company had posted a net profit of ₹3.9 crore during the corresponding period last year.
The growth was supported by a 21.1% increase in operating revenue, which reached ₹149.1 crore in H1 FY27, compared with ₹123.1 crore in H1 FY26.
The BSE SME-listed company also recorded a sequential improvement in profitability, with its net profit rising 31.6% from ₹3.6 crore in H2 FY26.
## Revenue Growth Supports Profitability
Klassroom’s operating revenue grew to ₹149.1 crore during the six months ended September 2026. This was also nearly 39% higher than the ₹107 crore recorded in the second half of FY26.
Including other income of ₹12.4 lakh, the company’s total income stood at approximately ₹149.2 crore during the reporting period.
While revenue increased, the company also saw its expenses rise. Total expenses grew 14.4% year-on-year to ₹86 crore in H1 FY27, compared with ₹75 crore in the year-ago period.
The company additionally reported tax expenses of ₹1.6 crore, up 68.2% from ₹96.4 lakh in H1 FY26.
Despite the increase in costs, revenue growth outpaced the rise in expenses, helping Klassroom improve its bottom line.
## A Closer Look at Klassroom’s Expenses
Other expenses accounted for the largest share of the company's reported cost base. Klassroom recorded ₹34 crore under this category during H1 FY27, compared with ₹25 crore in the corresponding period last year. The company did not provide a further breakdown of these expenses.
Employee benefit expenses also increased, reaching approximately ₹8 crore against ₹5.71 crore a year earlier.
Meanwhile, spending on the purchase of stock-in-trade declined by more than 70% to ₹64 lakh from ₹2.1 crore in H1 FY26.
Operating expenses fell 76.9% to ₹51.7 lakh, compared with ₹2.2 crore in the year-ago period.
## Board Approves New Auditor Appointments
Alongside its financial results, Klassroom announced two changes related to its audit and compliance functions.
The company's board approved the appointment of Neeta Desai of ND Associates as its secretarial auditor for a five-year term ending in FY31.
It also cleared the appointment of Pratik Gamot as the company's internal auditor for FY27.
## Klassroom’s Recent BSE SME Listing
The latest financial results come a little over two months after Klassroom made its debut on the BSE SME platform.
The company's shares listed at ₹170 apiece, representing a 6.92% premium over the IPO issue price of ₹159.
The public issue included a fresh issue of up to 19.89 lakh shares and an offer-for-sale component of up to 4.66 lakh shares. The IPO received 1.46 times subscription.
Klassroom had set a price band of ₹151 to ₹159 per share, targeting a valuation of approximately ₹148.1 crore at the upper end of the band.
Following the results, the company's shares closed 4.94% higher at ₹170 on the BSE on Thursday.
## What Lies Ahead for Klassroom?
Klassroom’s H1 FY27 performance reflects continued revenue growth alongside an improvement in profitability. The company has managed to grow its top line while keeping the increase in expenses relatively lower.
Its recent stock market listing also marks an important step in its growth journey, bringing the company under greater public-market scrutiny.
Going forward, investors will be watching whether Klassroom can sustain its revenue momentum, manage operating costs and maintain profitability as it expands its presence in the edtech market.
