ixigo Posts Rs 63.42 Crore Profit in Q2 FY27 as Hotel Bookings Surge

Travel booking platform ixigo reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 63.42 crore for the second quarter of FY27, marking a significant turnaround from the Rs 3.46 crore net loss recorded in the same period last year. The company's performance was supported by strong growth in hotel bookings and the partial sale of its stake in Freshbus, an intercity electric bus operator.

According to the company's regulatory filing, revenue from operations rose to Rs 320.96 crore in the July-September quarter of FY27, compared with Rs 284.23 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.

The results highlight ixigo's efforts to expand beyond its traditional train and flight booking businesses, with hotels emerging as an important growth area.

Hotel Bookings Become a Key Growth Driver

Hotels recorded the strongest growth among ixigo's business segments during the quarter. The segment's gross transaction value (GTV) reached Rs 111.34 crore, representing a 159% increase compared with the same period last year.

This quarter also marked the first time ixigo reported its hotel business as a separate segment, reflecting its growing importance to the company's overall operations.

The expansion of hotel bookings comes as ixigo works to broaden its offerings and attract customers looking for accommodation alongside their travel arrangements.

Revenue Rises as Expenses Increase

ixigo's operating revenue grew from Rs 284.23 crore in Q2 FY26 to Rs 320.96 crore in Q2 FY27, reflecting year-on-year growth of approximately 13%.

The company's total expenses also increased, reaching Rs 309.51 crore during the quarter, compared with Rs 291.89 crore in the year-ago period.

Despite the higher expenses, ixigo returned to profitability, reporting a net profit of Rs 63.42 crore against a loss in the corresponding quarter last year.

The partial sale of its stake in Freshbus contributed to the reported profit, meaning the improvement was not driven entirely by its regular operating activities.

Gross Transaction Value Crosses Rs 5,300 Crore

ixigo recorded a gross transaction value of approximately Rs 5,304 crore in Q2 FY27, an increase of 22% from the same quarter last year.

GTV represents the total value of transactions processed through a platform and provides an indication of overall booking activity.

The growth reflects continued demand across ixigo's travel services as the company works to strengthen its position in India's online travel market.

Freshbus Stake Sale Supports Quarterly Profit

The partial sale of its stake in Freshbus was one of the factors behind ixigo's strong bottom-line performance.

Freshbus operates intercity electric bus services and is focused on technology-enabled mobility solutions. The transaction contributed to ixigo's record quarterly profit, according to the company's leadership.

However, the distinction between income from such transactions and recurring operating performance remains important when assessing the company's long-term financial progress.

ixigo Continues to Invest in Hotels and Artificial Intelligence

ixigo's leadership said the company would continue investing in hotels and artificial intelligence as part of its long-term growth strategy.

The company is looking to strengthen its hotel booking business while using technology to improve customer experience and support its broader travel services.

Its focus on these areas reflects an effort to diversify revenue sources and build additional growth opportunities beyond its established ticket-booking operations.

What Lies Ahead for ixigo?

ixigo's Q2 FY27 results show progress in revenue growth, booking activity, and the expansion of its hotel business. The sharp improvement in reported profit was also supported by the partial sale of its Freshbus stake.

Going forward, the company's performance will depend on its ability to sustain growth across travel categories, expand its hotel offering, and improve operating efficiency.

Continued investment in technology and customer-focused services could help ixigo strengthen its position in India's competitive online travel market.
