# India Focuses on AI-Resistant Sectors to Safeguard Jobs and Boost Global Standing

Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal announced that the Indian government is working to pinpoint industries and career paths least susceptible to artificial intelligence disruption. The strategic move aims to shield domestic employment while positioning the country as an international leader in human-centric domains.

## Leveraging Human Expertise and Heritage

Speaking on workforce planning, Goyal highlighted that distinct traditional sectors—such as handicrafts, handlooms, culinary arts, and tourism—possess inherent human skills that artificial intelligence cannot replicate. By directing focus toward these culturally rooted industries, the government intends to preserve domestic employment and establish a competitive edge on the global stage.

Beyond traditional crafts, the minister emphasized that field journalism and specialized hands-on roles remain deeply resilient. These professions rely heavily on real-time human observation, critical context, and on-ground presence, making them difficult for automated algorithms to replace.

## Fostering Collaborative Innovation and Talent Return

To support this long-term vision, the Commerce Ministry is partnering with private sector leaders and academic institutions to map out future labor requirements. A key goal of this initiative is to encourage highly skilled Indian researchers, engineers, and scientists working abroad to return home and contribute to the national economy.

The administration believes that combining advanced technology adoption with traditional human ingenuity will build a sustainable economic framework. By proactively identifying AI-resistant careers, India aims to ensure its 1.4-billion-strong population benefits from technological advancements without risking widespread workforce displacement.
