Jio Financial Services (JFS) saw its consolidated net profit decline sharply in the second quarter of FY27, with earnings falling 51% year-on-year to ₹340.4 crore from ₹695 crore in the same quarter last year.
The company’s operating revenue, however, moved in the opposite direction. It increased 73% year-on-year to ₹1,699.3 crore in Q2 FY27, compared with ₹981.4 crore in Q2 FY26.
The company also reported just ₹13 lakh in other income during the quarter, significantly lower than the ₹21.1 crore recorded in the corresponding period a year earlier.
On a sequential basis, Jio Financial Services’ performance weakened as well. Consolidated profit dropped 59% from ₹830.3 crore in Q1 FY27, while operating revenue declined 15.2% from ₹2,004.5 crore in the previous quarter.
The fall in profitability came as the company faced higher expenses and did not receive the dividend income that had boosted its earnings in earlier quarters.
Jio Financial Services had earned ₹269 crore in dividend income in Q2 FY26. In the first quarter of FY27, its dividend income stood even higher at ₹508.6 crore.
As a result, although the company delivered substantial growth in operating revenue compared with the year-ago period, the absence of dividend income and increased expenses weighed heavily on its bottom line.
The latest quarterly numbers highlight the contrast between Jio Financial Services’ expanding operating revenue and the pressure on its consolidated profitability in Q2 FY27.
